Planning on visiting Italy in the near future? Worried that you might accidentally order shoes in a restaurant or end up at the local fishing spot when looking for a hotel? Italian For Tourists, by Jo Linsdell will help you avoid such misunderstandings.
Italian For Tourists: Pocket Edition is a phrasebook published through Lulu.com and is a basic guide to the Italian language covering phrases and words most needed by tourists. It includes all the words and phrases a tourist is likely to need during their stay in Italy as well as a pronunciation guide and a map of Italy.
The phrasebook is divided into 17 chapters including; Emergency, The basics, Common expressions, Learning Italian, Greetings and introducing yourself, Transport, Hotel, Sightseeing, Asking and giving directions, Food and drink, Health, Shopping, Offices and bureaucracy and Signs and notices and more.
I had the opportunity to read and review this book, and I can tell you it is fabulous. I don't speak a word of Italian, but feel confident I could find my way around fairly well with this book. It is laid out in an easy-to-naviagate style and even includes a pronunciation key. Off the top of my head, I thought of various scenarios I might encounter if I were a tourist, and found almost every one of them listed in this book.
