Overcomer's Inc -- A Couple of Interviews

I would love to be able to share with you an interview with every author in this collection, but that wouldn't give you the chance to discover them on your own :-) I have chosen two authors to share with you today. I know you will enjoy meeting them.

Jan Janzen

Jan Janzen is a non-denominational minister, healer and business coach. She is the author of two books and 8 CDs for the spiritual entrepreneur. To receive Jan´s complimentary ebook: 10 Secrets to Living the Life of Your Dreams, visit http://www.janjanzendaily.com/

How did you get started writing?

I started writing as a child in grade school and was enthralled with it. Then 2 ½ years ago, I wrote my first book, Devil with A Briefcase in 6 weeks and 1 ½ years ago, I wrote my second book, Getting Off the Merry-Go-Round in 6 weeks. I love to write. It´s when I am most in "the zone".

What do you do when you are not writing?

I am a non-denominational minister, healer and a business coach that works with entrepreneurs to eliminate the emotional blocks that stop them in their businesses. I am "the Sunshine Gypsy" and I work and travel all over the world, learning, exploring, teaching, healing and loving life.

What would readers like to know about you?

That you can take a very difficult situation – (I left the religion of the Jehovah´s Witnesses after 38 years and lost my family, my friends and my husband of 18 years) – and you can survive and thrive.

What inspired you to be a contributing author in Overcomers, Inc.?

I admire Lynne Klippel and it was a great opportunity to get my message of hope, courage and inspiration out to potentially thousands of readers. Plus I would get to work with an amazing team of marketers and see how you take a book to best seller status.

Why is the topic of Overcoming important to you?

Most people see it as a "negative" thing – "we need to overcome" – as if it was something arduous. In reality it´s such an exciting part of our journey, I can´t think of it as anything but positive!

Why are you specially qualified to write about this topic?

I went from being happily married, living in a beautiful home overlooking the ocean and earning a 6-figure income to being almost bankrupt, homeless and divorced. I had to overcome a lot as while this was happening there was no family or friends to support me.

How many books have you written?
This is now my 3rd.

What are the titles of your books and what genres are they?

Devil with a Briefcase: 101 Success Secrets for the Spiritual Entrepreneur is for entrepreneurs that is based on my years with the Jehovah´s Witnesses. I took the business lessons I learned from that religion and wrote the book. People love it because they learn something about this religion that is on their doorstep on Saturday morning but they really know very little about. Getting Off the Merry-Go-Round: How to Create the Life You Want Without the Fear, Doubt and Guilt is a personal development, self-help book that has received rave reviews including one reader saying it should be in Oprah´s book club. People have devoured this book because it gives them answers you don´t find elsewhere – eg. how a past life is affecting your weight or how what you experienced in utero is now keeping you broke.

How do you manage to keep yourself focused and on track when you’re writing a book?

I take dictation from the Universe and the books are written very quickly and even I go back and say, "Oh my God, this is really good!" It´s like I never wrote them.

Do you write to make money, for the love of writing or both?

Both.

What makes you proud about your involvement with Overcomers, Inc.?

I think people need encouragement, inspiration and motivation more than ever today as many have lost the traditional sources such as community or religion.

Will you write more books?

Absolutely! I will be writing the next one this winter.

What do you have in the works now?

It´s to do with breast health.

What does the future hold for you and your books?

I want to become a best-selling author many times over with an international speaking career that promotes my work and books.

What makes this a book that other people MUST read and WHY?

Nobody MUST read anything but I think people find other people´s stories encouraging and inspiring. It´s why reality TV has become so popular. People like to relate to someone else who did it and overcame a challenge.

What people NEED to read this book and WHY?

Everyone would benefit from reading inspiring stories of hope and courage particularly as so many are discouraged and feeling pessimistic.

What sparks your creativity? Any tips to help others spark their own creativity?

Life sparks my creativity! When you were raised in a strong cult such as I was with the message of doom and gloom and waiting for the end to come for 38 years, every day is now a gift and a joy. I look around and smile everyday that I am even here as I was raised to believe that this world would be long gone by now. So many things I never got to experience are still new to me like Christmas and birthdays, having my palm read or getting to sleep in on a Saturday morning. I still feel like a kid in the candy store even 10 years out of the religion. There is overwhelming gratitude for every day of life, who I am and what I can do to make this world a better place.

What do you think motivates people to become authors?

What motivated you to get into this unusual industry? People like to tell their story. They want to feel that they have something worthwhile to contribute. I just had to write. I didn´t even care if anyone read the books, which thankfully they did, but the urge to write was so compelling, I had to follow it.

Tell me about the most unusual things you have done to promote any books?

I talk about my pole dancing business in both my books and that always gets attention!

If a potential reader thinks that your book wouldn't interest them, what would you say to convince them to buy?

I'm thinking something better than "Its the greatest book ever." Give me something more specific :) I´d ask them if they felt like they had any blocks, sabotages or issues that they just hadn´t been able to figure out and eliminate. Perhaps they can´t lose the weight, find the ideal partner or manage their money. They have tried everything but nothing has worked. My book Getting Off the Merry-Go-Round will help them to figure out why and my healing work would eliminate it.

What is your final message to our readers?

Go create the most amazing life you can because you deserve it, the world deserves it of you and we need your gifts to shine!

How did you get started writing?
I have always enjoyed entertaining others and sharing stories so a some point I naturally progressed into using writing to fulfill this desire of mine. I started with smaller articles and eventually moved into longer stories and even an e-book for Internet Entrepreneurs.
What do you do when you are not writing?
I enjoy speaking to audiences of all sizes as well as conducting training seminars and various sized events. I love to entertain guests at home and will never pass up a good movie. The biggest chunk of my time is taken up at home spending time with the family or just reading a good book.
What would readers like to know about you?
I’d say one of the biggest things people are always surprised about is how much I’ve done in so little time. I attribute that to my becoming a father at the age of 17. Although it was not the easiest or most popular route, it started me on the fast track towards getting my life in order and always believing that anything was possible for me regardless of what others may have said.
What inspired you to be a contributing author in Overcomers, Inc.,
It was a series of synchronistic events that actually led me in the direction of working on this book project. After putting a few questions out to the Universe, this just kept popping up, so I had to do it. Right place, right time, but all on-purpose.
Why is the topic of Overcoming important to you?
Overcoming is important, because if you’re not overcoming, then you’re either sitting still or giving up and going backwards, neither of which are who I chose to be. I have been on both sides of the fence and learned that those who overcome are the ones who truly live, and those who don’t are always wishing they had, or wondering, what if? I don’t want to be the one who asks that question on my death bed.
Why are you specially qualified to write about this topic?
My writing comes from direct experience coupled with years of research, study and inquisition. I have literally spent thousands of hours, and thousands of dollars exploring not only my inner workings, but also the inner workings, thoughts and philosophies of many of the greatest minds in history.
How many books have you written?
One E-book and a manuscript or two that are work in progress and will be completed soon.
What are the titles of your books and what genres are they?
Instant Internet Entrepreneur – Business/Entrepreneurship
Live Your Purpose, Change The World – Self-Help/Spiritual (2010)

How do you manage to keep yourself focused and on track when you’re writing a book?
I just write when I feel inspired or moved to do so, which generally keeps me both focused and engaged in writing. This draws out the time it takes to complete something, but has also cut back on my editing and revising.
Do you write to make money, for the love of writing or both?
Both – I love to write because of the impact it can and does have on other people and of course being rewarded for that is a wonderful bonus I’m grateful to receive.
What makes you proud about your involvement with Overcomers, Inc.?
Just thinking of both the great authors I get to share the pages with, and also the impact this book will have on people’s lives around the world is a very fulfilling experience and one that I’m proud to say that I’m a part of.
Will you write more books?
Absolutely! Many more to come!
What do you have in the works now?
Two manuscripts – 1 – ‘Live Your Purpose, Change The World’ and the other yet to be titled. I also have a children’s book on leadership that I hope to have illustrated and released in the next year.
What does the future hold for you and your books?
I expect that you’ll see much more of me over the coming years not only in print, but also in person as I travel the world teaching, training and simply enjoying life and living out my purpose!
What makes this a book that other people MUST read and WHY?
It’s during challenging times such as those we are experiencing around the world today that people most need support and help getting through. A book such as this one shows the readers that it’s possible for them to not only survive, but also to thrive and that it’s what we do during times like these that ultimately defines who we are and what we are to become. They will learn, that no matter how hard things may seem, they will overcome!
What people NEED to read this book and WHY?
If you’re reading this – you need to read it. If you’re reading this and thinking of someone – they need to read it too! The why is tucked within the pages, just remember there are no accidents and there’s a message in there meant specifically for you.
What sparks your creativity? Any tips to help others spark their own creativity?
Spending time alone, in nature, or just on a short walk will usually kick me into creative mode. It’s hard to be creative when you’re stressed, or worrying about things. Take a break, go outside and just relax – the rest will come naturally!

What do you think motivates people to become authors? What motivated you to get into this unusual industry?
A burning desire to share something with others along with the feeling that a book is the best way to reach the people who could most benefit from what you’re sharing. The thing that motivated me was that no matter how many books I read, or how many stores I visit, I never quite find the book I’m looking for… that’s the book I’m intended to write.
If a potential reader thinks that your book wouldn't interest them, what would you say to convince them to buy?
I'm thinking something better than "Its the greatest book ever." Give me something more specific :) I’d tell them that in my experience everything in life has a purpose, and nothing is just by chance, or accidental. Every conversation you have, word you read or picture you see carries some significance in your life apart from the billions of other things that didn’t enter your senses, and there’s a reason for that. If you come across this book, there’s a reason for it. Read it, tell me what it was, if you’re still not sure after reading it, then just pay attention – it may be on the way!
What is your final message to our readers?
Go out and get a copy of this book for the person in your life that means the most to you, you’ll never regret it. Thank you so much for allowing me to share a little bit about myself and this phenomenal book with you, it’s truly an honor to know that of all the things you could possibly be doing right now, you choose to spend them with me, thank you!
